    The Pokémon Company International has just announced the newest expansion for the popular Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare . Available worldwide on July 18, 2025 , this set pays homage to the fifth generation of Pokémon and the Unova region known for the Pokémon Black and White games.

    Unova comes to life

    In this special double-header expansion, all 156 original Unova Pokémon return, with new cards featuring unique illustrations. Each Pokémon gets an Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare card, creating a visual spectacle for collectors and players alike.

    What can you expect?

    • 6 Pokémon ex cards : Powerful cards that allow for new strategies.
    • 8 Ultra Rare Cards : Includes both Pokémon and Supporter cards.
    • Illustration Rare cards : A unique card for each Unova Pokémon.
    • Special Illustration Rare Supporter Card : A rare card that adds extra depth to your deck.

    New rarities and nostalgia

    This set introduces a new rarity: the Black & White Rare cards. These cards feature a black and white design that is reminiscent of the style of the original Black & White series. Additionally, there are Basic Energy cards that feature retro designs from the original Black & White era, bringing a sense of nostalgia to long-term fans.

    Available products

    The following products will be available at launch on July 18, 2025:

    • Elite Trainer Boxes : Available in two versions, each with a unique promo card of Tornadus or Thundurus.
    • Binder Collections : Includes a 9-pocket album and 5 booster packs.
    • Unova Poster Collection : Includes 2 booster packs of each set and three promo cards of Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott.
    • Unova Mini Tins : A series of 8 collectible tins, each containing 1 booster pack of each set.
    • Tech Sticker Collections : Contains exclusive Reuniclus or Gothitelle promo cards and thematic stickers.

    Further releases

    Additional products will become available after the July 18 launch:

    • Victini Illustration Collection : Available from August 1, 2025, with a special Victini promo card.
    • Booster Bundles : Available from August 22, 2025, with 6 booster packs of each set.

    Digital play

    Ahead of the physical release, players will be able to play the new cards digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app for iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows devices starting on July 17, 2025. Players can unlock new cards for free through the Battle Pass and test their skills on the rebalanced ranked ladder.
